While balancing motherhood with the demands of OakMed, Cathrene maintains a commitment to both the company and compassionate care. She has a natural talent for inspiring confidence and trust in her clients and she is passionate about ensuring patient comfort and well-being by using her expertise in pressure ulcer and skin tear prevention in conjunction with the unique range of OakMed products. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business from Walsh College in Michigan but also has first-hand experience in palliative care and has coordinated and administered care for terminally ill patients.
A gifted communicator, Cathrene brings incredible warmth and sincerity to the OakMed brand, and with the personal and genuine desire to help those with specific healthcare needs, she epitomizes the OakMed approach to total client commitment.
Carolyn Thomas
National Clinical Manager
Carolyn holds a Diploma of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Studies and has worked as a registered nurse for over 20 years. Most recently she was the Nurse Manager of an independent 30 bed aged care facility. Carolyn has had extensive experience in caring for clients with skin integrity issues and chronic wounds. She is a certified trainer and has a passion for continuing education. A veteran of many courses, she has most recently been certified by Flinders University in Australia as a trainer in chronic disease management.
 David Baetens
Director of Marketing
David has had an extensive business career in senior management and has been involved in a family business for all of his working life. He maintains an abiding enthusiasm for the study of wellness and life extension and is passionate about pressure ulcer prevention. He is most committed to reducing the "silent epidemic" wherein it is estimated that 95% of pressure ulcers are preventable events.
He also focuses on reducing the prevalence of pressure ulcers and skin tears and improving patient outcomes throughout the healthcare network and in the community care environment. He travels to many international events (such as Medica in Germany) in search of the latest developments and techniques in maximizing pressure redistribution and skin integrity solutions.
David has a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Western Michigan University and is the father of four thriving children. He is based at the OakMed headquarters in Michigan.
Martin Thomas
Director of Sales
Martin holds a Bachelor of Business in Institutional Management from Michigan State University and has recently been included in the Stanford Who's Who Blackbook for demonstrating outstanding leadership and achievement in the healthcare industry.
He has spent over 20 years in the healthcare industry and was formerly Managing Director of Caromar Care Limited, a company that owned and operated boutique residential care homes for the elderly. He spent 10 years combining his corporate career with his role as Course Director and Senior Lecturer at London's South Bank University School of Business.
Martin is devoted to pressure ulcer prevention and frequently speaks at trade and industry events; he also conducts education and training seminars across Australia and internationally.
